Traditional Casket Services Families often mark relevant changes in their lives with elaborate ceremonies, such as graduation, weddings, baptisms, etc. A funeral service is a time to reflect on the past while looking toward the future, and to celebrate our loved ones' lives and reflect upon their accomplishments. A service at a church or in the chapel of Miles Funeral Home would be followed by burial in a cemetery. A time for fellowship, viewing and visitation are key elements of this type of service. Musical selections, musicians and casketbearers are all variable aspects for this type of service.
Because we are a locally-owned firm, we know the community well enough to understand the importance of quality of service and costs. We want the people we deal with to be comfortable with their decision.
A traditional casket service includes the following services:
- Professional services of funeral director and staff.
- Embalming and other care of the body to allow open casket viewing.
- Visitation and funeral service conducted at Miles Funeral Home or in your church or facility.
- Removal from place of death.
- Hearse and car for clergy provided at funeral.
- Filing of permits and documentation.
- All transportation within a 100-mile radius of Miles Funeral Home.
- Casket selection from one of the four casket categories.
- 100 visitation folders with register book and acknowledgement cards.
There are some outside charges that a family usually incurs related to the funeral service. These include certified copies of the death certificate, obituary notice, clergy honorarium, musician fees, flowers, cemetery expenses and vault. These costs are usually taken care of at the time of need.

Immediate Burial or Direct Cremation The simplest of funeral services where the deceased is transferred to the funeral home for minimal preparation without embalming for identification. The body is placed in a casket or cremation container and brought privately to the cemetery or crematory. If the family chooses to be present for the final disposition, the funeral home often charges an additional fee. A memorial service can be arranged after the funeral which is described below.
Memorial Service Days or weeks after an immediate burial or direct cremation, a memorial service without the body present can take place in the funeral home, place of worship or any appropriate location that can accommodate relatives and friends. If cremation was selected, an urn can be purchased for the cremated remains and made available for the service.
Other Services Domestic or International Transfers The funeral home can arrange for the deceased to be shipped to another city, state or country for funeral services abroad. A traditional funeral may be held prior to shipment.
Receiving of Remains from another Funeral Home Another funeral home may arrange for the deceased to be shipped to our funeral home. A traditional funeral service may take place in one or both locations prior to burial or cremation.
